Threats Facing the Church
Mat. 16:13-23
Internal Threats -
-Changes to worship and doctrine
1. Instrumental musics was never authorized in the New Testament (Eph. 5:19; Col. 3:16)
2. Women's roles in the church and public worship are defined by scripture and we have no authority to change them (1 Cor. 14:34)
3. Baptism is how one is saved and following baptism one is added to the church (Acts. 3:28; 1 Pet. 3:21)
4. Christ established the Lord's supper and by example we see Christians assemble to observed it (Acts 20:7)
If you know the truth, then you'll be able to know error!
Two things Jesus made clear in Matthew 16:
1. Jesus alone is the architect and builder of the church
2. The instructions the church is to follow is from heaven
-Changes in our attitude toward Christianity (Acts 4:19; Acts 5:29)
External Threats -
-Threats from our government and other ungodly authorities
-We shoud respect governmental authority and be the best citizens we can until it contradicts God (1 Pet. 2:13-17; Romans 13:1-7)
-Islam
